Catherine Glandon Gets Her Advanced Tiger Sash
The first grader earns a sash that is difficult to obtain, according to her instructor.
Catherine Glandon, a first grader from was awarded her Advanced Tiger sash in kung fu from Sifu Todd Shawn Tei of the California Academy of Martial Arts.
"These sashes are earned, not given," said instructor Sifu Tei, who tested the students in early February. Students between age 3 and 50 tested for new sashes.
Catherine was one of the youngest, and earned her new ranking through hard work, humility and determination.

Catherine is a veteran Advanced Tiger whose knowledge of Ip Man and his significance to Wing Chun was especially impressive, her instructor said.
"I'm very proud of her," said the 6-year-old's mother Caty Glandon, who is also the PTA President of Valley View.
