"I just spotted aother coyote at 6 a.m. while walking my dogs. He was in the street at the corner of Sunnyslope Ave. And Moorpark Street in Sherman Oaks. In this same area, I saw a lot of black and white fur on the ground, two days ago. It looked like dog fur. I would imagine it was a coyote attack."—Ev

There was a half eaten black cat on the lawn next door last week. Hoffman Street very close to CBS Radford. It must have been the work of a coyote.

11 p.m on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 "We live on Libbit Ave right in front of the dog park and the coyotes are here EVERYDAY 24/7. They have no preference of hour and have no fear of humans or our animals. The freeway and street traffic do not bother them. They follow you closely when you walk and will attack if they feel they can get a meal. We watch them jump 7ft fences with spikes on top with out having a running start." 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 Coyote Sighted in Valley Glen in Hillviewpark Estates. It was sighted west of Fulton and north of Burbank. We were driving in a car at around 8:00 am therefore it had been light out for several hours and many people walk in that neighborhood each morning and he was just standing watching. There were some people walking around and while coyotes are generally afraid of humans, this coyote was just watching everything.—Clea M. 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 2 coyotes were in our backyard today, Sunday, August 19th at around 8am. They were lounging in the shade and snooping in the vegetable garden.
They came back while we were at church and were in the shade by the pool we when got home at about 1pm. We chased them away with a bat and they jumped our back fence, heading east on Hazeltine, about 2 blocks South of Ventura Blvd. They had eaten some tomato fertilizer from a container near the garden. Not sure if that will make them sick. I have to check with the manufacturer as the container was destroyed.—Susan Pitts 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 "Saw a COYOTE right across the St. from my gate on --"HAYVENHURST AVE BETWEEN VENTURA & LIBBIT"--. (the 4600 block of Hayvenhurst). CAREFUL!! SPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME THAT TAKE WALKS AT NIGHT WITH MY DOG OR WITHOUT." 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 Another, or the same one, at Mulholland, southside and Coldwater. See the photo I put up, it's dark, though— J. Sebring Noon on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 Near Coldwater Canyon and Mulholland, southside, Studio City side, went in to TreePeople to tell them, they were near the parking lot, two, looking real scrawny, like the picture. — J. Sebring 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 Near top of Mulholland at Woodrow Wilson Dr., a large deer and then coyote following it. Can't believe it, but I bet the deer is food now.—James Pierson 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 Kling and Morse in Sherman Oaks, cats missing, coyotes seen in area. Karen M 1:15 pm on Monday, July 30, 2012 Another COYOTE Alert in Sherman Oaks, west of Woodman, south of Magnolia. It turned south on Matilija then east on Addison to WOODMAN. It crossed through traffic at Woodman and disappeared into bushes east of Woodman on Addison. Cats that are outdoors (including the homeless who cannot be brought inside) are in danger in this area, even at 7 AM. Thursday, July 19, Midnight Near Campo and South Weddington Park "It was just near midnight and I was driving south on Cahuenga and just passing the near Universal Studios and there was a coyote sauntering alongside. I honked and tried to chase it away and I followed it for aawhile because it was going into the Isalnds residential area and I didn't want to be responsible for that, but no, it went right into the park, near the freeway."—Jake Summers Tuesday, July 17, 11 a.m. Radford Street underpass 101 "Just near the freeway offramp I thought it was a dog that might be hurt because it was in the bushes and near the traffic, but it was a coyote all right, with shiny eyes. They're not usually out in the daylight like that."—Carole Convey Thursday, July 12, 1 a.m. Barham and Cahuenga "A coyote crossing the middle of the intersection. It reminded me of that Tom Cruise movie,  I can't remember, with the coyote walking down Ventura."—Steve Zine Wednesday, July 11, 11:30 a.m. Fryman Canyon Park "Just outside the entrance of the park, he was howling. Thought it was hurt at first, but when I saw him he went scrambling." —James Perry Sunday, July 8, 9 a.m. Oakwood Apartments, Barham Blvd. "We have seen a large coyote roaming the street, I didn't know they got that big. And also there was seen a mountain lion in the hills by a number of people." —Janice McL Saturday, July 7, 10 p.m. Riverton, North of Camarillo "Neighbors have spotted a pair of coyotes on Riverton, North of Camarillo, South of Magnolia, in between Vineland and Cahuenga within the past 1-2 months hanging out on the side lawn off closest to Otsego and Hesby. And I have seen a coyote do the zigzag pattern into the driveways on our street about 2 years ago in the middle of the day, but for the most part, they don't seem to be around here too much. We have a larger raccoon problem, they are very aggressive."—Melinda L. Van Vleck Saturday, July 7, 11 a.m. Studio City Hills We moved to SC over three years ago. We are near the top of a hill that backs up onto open public land and we see all kinds of wildlife on a daily basis: Deer, coyotes, skunks, foxes, owls, hawks, rattlers, bobcats, prairie dogs, quail, rabbits, squirrels (as well as various rodents), but with a big fence and two protective dogs we love it! (Except for the time a Coyote was trying to lure our little dog out by getting in the "puppy crouch." They show up once or twice a month. I'll upload a few pics.—MRL Sunday, July 1, 1 a.m. Coy Drive north of Valley Vista Large coyote, dog-sized. Perhaps the same as this sighting: "I saw a coyote on Wednesday morning at 5:55 am, June 20th on Coy Drive north of Valley Vista. He was walking in the middle of the street and escaped under a metal gate into someone's driveway." Tuesday, June 26, La Maida between Mammoth Sherman Oaks, another Coyote attack in the same area (just off Woodman) as the post for May 24th. Thursday, June 7, 4 p.m., Trader's near Carpenter Was walking my little Pomeranian Torry on the hill near Carpenter Elementary School and looking down and saw on the hill a coyote foraging behind the Trader Joe's I tried to throw rocks at it, but couldn't imagine where it would go because there's just the parking lot. Use your heads and keep your animals inside until you are able to be there to walk them and keep an eye on them, even in your fenced in backyards. It is too much of a heartbreak to have them "missing."—     Wednesday, May 23,  Sherman Oaks Coyote attack! That would have put him/her between Laurelwood Drive and Picturesque. My fiancé thought it was a small one. The coyote looked right at us and our English Bulldog and went about his business walking east. Even though we were about 30 yards away on our back deck, our presence didn't faze him one bit!" Wednesday, May 16, 11:00 a.m. "Couldn't believe it, just after my morning jog, did my walking stint at Ethel where it connects to Longridge and there was a mangey hot & sweaty coyote just mozying down the middle of the street like he owned the road. Another jogger laughed and tried to take a pic with his cellphone, but then he took off into someone's side yard. I tried to follow it, but didn't want to corner it. Never saw one in the daytime like that. Must've been hungry."—Randy Schwartz, a longtime resident   Friday, May 11, 8 p.m.  "I saw a coyote on my front lawn near Ethel/Kling twice last week - once @8PM the other time around 11PM. possibly the same one that Karen N. saw (although a different night). he sat there for a few minutes before moving on and wasn't phased by nearby cars or a porch light."—JT   Wednesday, May 2, 11:30 a.m. "Mike!!! About 11:30 going up Mulholland at Willowcrest." —Simon   Wednesday, May 2, 9:00 a.m. "I wasn't going to say anything, but I've been seeing a lot more bunnies and deer out there lately, so it makes sense that the predators are on their way too. My property has over 6' high wrought iron spiked fence and brick walls. They shouldn't be able to get in but somehow this guy did. Caught him on a surveillance camera." —   Monday, March 5, 12:30 p.m. "I saw him too, just at noon, right out there near the freeway, there must be a nest there, it was on the west side of the freeway, across from Weddington Park, where there are known coyote nests." — Leon Cantrell Sunday, March 4 @6:30 p.m. "Just at sundown in the back part of Woodbridge Park behind the school I followed one that I thought was a stray shepherd and it went to the area near the freeway. This is frightening. I've posted three times and the cat killed neartby. It is extremely frustrating that local animal control and wild life authorities will not take this problem seriously until a child or adult is injured or killed."—Shana Andress Friday, March 2 @ 8:11 p.m. "This whole reporting coyotes thing is kind of silly. We live in a mountain area with tons of wildlife. I live in the hills above Sherman Oaks and I see coyotes all the time. I also see squirrels, raccoons, opossums, great horned owls, hawks, and bobcats. If you don't want your pets eaten, keep them inside. Don't leave food outside and take care of your trash. It's that simple. Be smart about it. This whole "report your coyote sightings" is just getting people riled up and freaked out over nothing. If coyotes are your biggest concern living in LA, then you have a pretty blessed life."—Barbara
Friday, March 2 @ 8 p.m. "We walk nearly daily before breakfast in Franklin Canyon. This morning my daughter, alone with dog, was warned of coyotes by other walkers, so they were on increased 'look out'. They did see 5 coyote today, whereas occasionally it has been one or two. Our thought is that lack of rain is making wildlife more visible. So we need to keep our animals and children near us, because in coyote-eyes, two together decreases the likelihood of attack...particularly when connected with leash, in the case of a dog.....or carried, in the case of a cat or small child."—Irene Gibson Friday, March 2 @ 7:15 p.m. "Coyote sighting! 7pm on Petit, one block north of Ventura Blvd."—Nancy Rubin Thursday, March 1 @ 8 a.m. Sue Kupcinet: "There are more and more coyotes north of the Boulevard between White Oak and Balboa. Many of us can no longer walk our dogs and many of us have lost our pets to the coyotes. We need to get together and try to solve this problem. It has changed our lives! The city ignores us and refuses to help. Any good suggestions out there to help solve the problem?" Wednesday, Feb. 29 @ 6:30 a.m. At 6.30am Wednesday 2/29 on Sunshine Terrace right near Fruitland.—Alex Goldstone Tuesday, Feb.28 @ 7 a.m. 7am @ the intersction of Valley Spring Lane and Bakman Ave, near Woodbridge Park; lone coyote wandering the neighbor, was able to jump a four ft. fence with no problem; second time in 6 weeks that I saw one at this location—Doug K. Monday, Feb. 27 @ 11 p.m. Just wanted to let folks know I saw 1-2 coyotes on Bluffside tonight.  Brave too - curious enough to come towards me and Tommy Boy until I turned on the flashlight and made some noise. Just thought I'd make a mention for those that have small doggies/cats.  Tommy boy wanted to eat the coyote but I fear it may be the other way around if a smaller dog or cat is around.Keeping an eye out. Tuesday, Feb. 22 @ 10 a.m. "Two large coyotes at corner of Laurelgrove and Otsego. One began to stalk our Golden Retriever (not a small dog by any means!), while another waited nearby. Boyfriend chased them both away. Reported it to Animal Control, but was surprised when they didn't even ask for an address to check it out."—Kay Monday, Feb. 21 @ 7:30 a.m. I was out walking my 9 lb. dog and ran into acoyote on the corner of St. Clair and Woodbridge.  Tried yelling to scare it off, but it just stood there waiting for me to put my dog back down on the ground.  Not sure what to do, I stuffed her inside my sweatshirt and quickly made my way up to a neighbor's door.  The coyote finally moved on, trotting right down the middle of Woodbridge - not the least bit scared of people or passing cars.  —Tracey Thomson Saturday, Feb. 18 @ 5:30 a.m "Swear to God, I saw this exact reddish coyote on Arch Drive crossing between the apartments to the river just before dawn."—Sara Barnett Thursday, Feb. 16 @ 10:44 p.m. Crossing Acama Street near .—Carlton Smith Wednesday, Feb. 15 @ 11 p.m. Photo of coyote taken Valleyheart and Ethel. 2/14 11PM Watch you pets!—Chris Lucibello
Saturday, Jan. 7 @ 9:30 p.m. "Our very brave old dog Rudy fought off a coyote Saturday night. We thought he was in, but the coyote jumped the fence (about 5 feet) and attacked this 12-year-old fighter who snarled back. 12 stitches later, he is okay and mending, if not a little rattled."
