Identity of Man in Fountain Still Undetermined

The cause of death is still uncertain as well.

No next-of-kin was located yet for the man after Thanksgiving in a fountain in Studio City, officials said.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office told Studio City Patch late Friday that a week after the body was found, officials were still unable to contact a next-of-kin.

Officials have a unconfirmed identity of the body—he could be a 49-year-old—but no family member has yet been contacted.

The man’s body was found a week ago in a shallow fountain of the California Pavilion Shopping Center at 12265 Ventura Blvd. in front of and . There was no visible signs of trauma.

A cause of death is still not determined, according to the coroner's office, but Los Angeles Police said the death is not considered a homicide, and there is no evidence of foul play.

The man may have fallen into the fountain and died while fishing for coins in the fountain located between Whitsett and Laurel Grove Avenues in the shopping district of Studio City.

Officials said they may have a cause of death determined by next week.
