LAPD North Hollywood Division Brings Toys To Needy
Officers deliver 1,000 toys and gifts to several local schools and an elder care facility.
The LAPD North Hollywood Division held its annual toy givaway Thursday as a train of police cars (and Santa Claus) made stops at six local schools and the Four Seasons elder care facility and delivered toys and gifts, according to Sgt. Jeff Hollis of the LAPD North Hollywood Division.
Five of the schools were Head Start schools for disadvantaged youth and the other was the Lowman Special Education Center (see Patch's video from last year at the Lowman School to learn more.)
"All told, the officers gave away just over 1,000 gifts," wrote Hollis in an email. "The gifts were donated by the community at various collection boxes scattered throughout North Hollywood, Studio City, and Toluca Lake. The generosity of the community made this possible - and the quality of the toys and gifts was truly incredible." (See attached photos.)
Hollis also said there will a "community caravan" on Monday, in which officers will be giving an equal number of toys to many of the poorer communities in North Hollywood Division.

Thank you for reporting on this! Our business, Anderson Trophy, is located across the street from Lowman and each year, we hear the sirens and see the caravan of police pull into the school. It's such an impressive sight! And knowing that the police come bearing gifts and joy for the kids is such a warm feeling. Thank you to the police officers who do the give away and to the generous donors who contribute to the event! Happy holidays!
