Man Shot Multiple Times in Studio City

Police seek information on an early-morning shooting that left a 50-year-old man in critical condition.

A man was shot on Chiquita Street in Studio City early Thursday morning. He was reported to be in critical condition.

Responding to a "shots fired" call at 12:40 a.m., North Hollywood police officers arrived at the 10600 block of Chiquita Street, where they found a man who was shot several times in the upper torso.  He reportedly was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and was still in critical condition late Thursday morning. He died later that day.

Chiquita Street is a small cul-de-sac across from Universal Studios with large single-family homes. No one was around who knew about the shooting in the late morning.

According to Los Angeles Police Officer Bruce Borihans, "The victim was a 50-year-old male, and there is no motive at the time. It does not appear to be gang-related and is not related to the shooting 10 minutes later in North Hollywood on Whitsett Avenue."

Police are asking that anyone with any information on the Chiquita Street shooting contact detectives at 818-623-4075 or 877-529-3855.
