Studio City Music Producer Jeff 'Critter' Newell Dies at 45 [see VIDEO tributes]

He just produced Blink-182's latest album and all of Angels & Airwaves.

Jeff "Critter" Newell, who produced the new Blink-182 album  'Neighborhoods'  died was found dead in his Studio City home on Dec. 31. He was 45.

Newell was a noted sound engineer who also produced Angels & Airwaves' entire discography. Often considered the "fifth member of Angels & Airwaves," lead vocalist Tom Delonge said: "He was the most artistic and beautiful thing that could have ever happened to Angels & Airwaves. RIP Jeff 'Critter' Newell. AVA will never be the same...." (See the video tribute of the band to Critter above in the Videos.)

He was formerly a resident of West Chicago, Ill., born on March 26, 1966 in Chicago to William and Marilyn Newell.

He is survived by his parents, William and Marilyn Newell of Bensenville, Illinois, his sister, Jodi (Steve), two nieces, Heidi and Katherine and a nephew, Brian.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, Illinois. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 9:30 to 11 and also following the service.
