Q:  How exactly does a Tankless Water Heater improve energy efficiency in a home?

A:  Well, a traditional water heater is constantly maintaining hot water, whereas a Tankless Heater only operates when there is a demand for hot water.  This translates to savings in gas consumption.

Q:  What are some of the other benefits?

A:  A Tankless Water Heater occupies much less space than a traditional tank heater, which makes it ideal in houses and condos with space constraints.  A Tankless Heater provides endless hot water and also has a warranty of 10 years vs. the six years of a standard water heater.

Q:  What does a homeowner need to do to switch from a standard water heater to a Tankless one?

A:  Every installation is different, and there are a variety of Tankless Heaters to fit almost any home.  Some considerations in upgrading to a Tankless Heater may include: 1) different venting 2) larger gas supply and 3) additional electrical connection.  You should always consult with a licensed plumbing contractor to understand the specific needs of your home.

Q:  For those consumers in the market for a Tankless Water Heater, what brand do you recommend?

A:  I recommend Noritz because of its construction and customer service (www.noritz.com).  However, there are additional manufacturers available.

There you have it.  Laughlin said if you are looking for an environmentally safe and energy efficient way to improve your home, give a Tankless Water Heater a shot and do not hesitate to call Laughlin Plumbing so he can answer any of your questions or concerns. (818) 761-2205
