SYNOPSIS: Republic Pictures released Calling All Marines on September 20, 1939. In this patriotic spy adventure, a young gangster joins an enemy espionage agency and agrees to enlist in the Marine Corps so he can pilfer the plans for a newly developed aerial torpedo.

Don "Red" Barry was born Milton Poimboeuf on January 11, 1912 in Houston, TX. A college football star, Donald Barry started out on the stage and then turned to films. After four years of playing villains and henchmen at various studios, Barry got the role that made him a star, Red Ryder in the Republic Pictures serial Adventures of Red Ryder (1940). He earned the nickname "Red" from the Red Ryder character he played. After the success of "Red Ryder" Barry starred in a string of westerns for Republic Pictures.

He died on 17 July 1980 of a self inflicted gun shot wound, he was 68.
