Taste of Sunrise Comes to Studio City

The senior center in Studio City joins the national dining and nutritional education program.

The will be sharing delicacies from the Sunrise Signature Dining Program with the local public—and there's one

Sunrise Senior Living will host a plethora of food and dining events May 20 to May 26 in nearly 300 of its communities. (The local one is on the 26th, see details below.)

Entitled Taste of Sunrise, these communities invite the public to learn more about Sunrise’s unparalleled dining experience and nutritional expertise, all while enjoying delicious home-made dishes. Event attendees will also receive a complimentary copy of Sunrise’s second annual Recipes from the Heart cookbook. 

“Providing superior dining options and service is a priority at Sunrise,” said Laura McDuffie, head of Operations at Sunrise. “Our culinary team talks regularly with residents to get their feedback on our dining program, engaging them in menu planning to make certain they feel at home in our communities. We look forward to sharing our expertise and raising awareness of the importance of creating senior-friendly meals during these events.”

Taste of Sunrise events will celebrate Sunrise community chefs and highlight residents’ favorites and regional fare through a variety of offerings, including community brunches, picnics, cooking demonstrations, farmers markets, dueling chef competitions, informational sessions and more. The Taste of Sunrise campaign also features the release of the second annualRecipes from the Heart cookbook, which includes original recipes from Sunrise chefs and residents.

In addition, Sunrise launched Senior EatsTM, a food blog that can be found at www.SunriseSeniorEats.com and serves as an innovative resource for senior-friendly recipes and food news. “At Sunrise we pride ourselves on serving fresh, delicious and nutritious home-cooked meals and fostering social interaction in our restaurant-style dining rooms,” said Tim Whelan, vice president of Dining Services for Sunrise. “Taste of Sunrise is all about celebrating good food, family and friends in our communities.”

The community will host an outdoor barbecue, which will feature the new Sunrise Signature Burger and other barbecue favorites. Visitors will be able to mingle with residents and staff, including the community chef.
