Walter Reed Calls for Community Meeting

A conversation with the principal is set for two nights to discuss the middle school's budget crisis.

Walter Reed Middle School is calling for an "urgent community meeting" for Thursday and Friday to explain to parents and students about potential budget cuts by the school district.

The emergency meeting alert was sent out to parents late Monday night by email and phone calls.

The discussion is billed as "Conversations with the Principal: The School Budget Crisis" and is broken into two informational sessions. All families are invited.

Families are already upset about the recent lay-offs they've heard about this week of two music teachers and an art teacher who will not be funded next year.

The first meeting is set for Thursday, 7 p.m. in the Auditorium and the second meeting is planned for Friday, at 8:15 a.m. in  the Cafeteria.
