Were there any crops grown in the land known as Studio City or in the hills? If so, what? And when?— Bruce Chandler

Great question Bruce. Most of Studio City was orchards with citrus and avocado from the early 1800s to the 1930s, all along the, when is was wild and free running. Grapes and some vegetables were also grown in the earlier days.

This area was rural when and the Warner Brothers moved their studios into the area at the late 1800s and the beginning of the 1900s.  Most of the houses and streets of Studio City show the remnants of what was grown here.  There are citrus and avocado trees in almost all of the yards.

I believe that the natives living in the Studio City area had crops and tended livestock.  The Spanish and Mexican citizens were the first to grow grapes and had large haciendas in Studio City.
