Back in the 1950's we headed from Illinois in the winter for Florida. The drive took 3 days each wayRead More and then we started flying. My father's father had a lovely Spanish style house in Coral Gables and after our family of 6 had outgrown that space we stayed in a motel in Miami with a swimming pool--unheard of then back in Chicago except in our dreams. We would go to our favorite eateries after playing on the beach and doing adventures; my folks took us to watch the horses work out at the track and then they would go back that night and bet and have a blast. I feel so fortunate that they took us along and now that they have passed away I wish I had expressed that more.
