Exactly right! Thanks Amy!!!!

Haha! I asked my grandmother what she did before putting kids in front of the TV was an option, andRead More she said she gave her young ones chores to do instead. That sounds like another struggle in and of itself. Your words are funny because they're true--thank you for insight!

Thanks Shawna! Boy....chores huh?? I'm trying to remember what my sister and I did. Mostly, myRead More parents just opened the front door and told us to be back by 5:00. Ah...the days before helicopter parenting ;-) Glad you liked the piece. Keep reading!!!

Ha! Will do, my dear friend. It might be stepford-ish..can see that..but it's so dang pleasant andRead More low key that it could be The Firm and I wouldn't care ;-)

Maya! Thanks so much for reading. So glad you like my stuff. I usually just subject my family toRead More my writing so your compliments make my day. I fear, like you, I will never want to leave my compound in Oak Park. I am determined to try though because I have so many dear friends in LA....I'll let you know how that goes. I'm am not on Twitter or Facebook but I see them in my future. I am quite the old foggy that way. I still like hand written letters and kind of resent my cell phone most of the time. I'll keep you posted on my electronic whereabouts. Thanks again, Maya!

This is the best one yet! Just in case you don't know, Irene is filled with grace and selectivelyRead More unleashes it on you when you least expect it, which makes it even more overwhelming and delightful! Well done! Marla~

I'm with you, Irene! By the way, absence makes the heart go wander, too. Problem. Especially if yourRead More husband works out of town 9 months of the year, you have to chase after your heart so it doesn't wander away. But I must say that I think the teaching adage should sometimes apply to junior college English professors and dance instructors. I see them. They wanted to be a prima ballerina but busted their knee. They wanted to write the great American novel but never had an idea worthy. That one I'm afraid I do "get" some times. As always, Irene, I LOVE your blog. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and giving me a "hm" and a laugh!
Irene Tassiopulos-Lyle July 26, 2011 at 08:29 pm
Thanks, Bonnie! Glad I can give you a laugh. You have given me many ;-)
Amy July 30, 2011 at 06:12 pm
You are so right. On every one. I'd love to see your "Top 10 questions you should neverRead More ask." (Are you having twins?) Thanks for making me laugh!
Irene Tassiopulos-Lyle May 13, 2011 at 03:35 pm
You too, honey ;-)

If you can choose a fictional person, my vote would be for Julianna Margulies' character onRead More "The Good Wife." She's smart, sexy, and strong without being stoic. She rarely shows her vulnerability, but when she does, you know her world truly is caving in on her. She's polite, but doesn't take cr*p from anybody. She's an outstanding lawyer, and although she wrestles with her conscious on cases that are potentially unethical, her conscious inevitably wins. She treats her teenage kids like near-adults rather than children, but knows when to step in and be the firm mom. If Julianna had just a tad more of a sense of humor, she'd be the perfect woman.

Thanks Cathy! I do love Julianna Margulies too. I've never seen the show but that character soundsRead More great.

I know. I need to get better at the pic thing. Alas....didn't know for sure how I'd get thatRead More particular picture and wasn't sure it would be all that appealing anyway ;-) Thanks Yvis. Muah.

I'm sure your ta tas are in fine shape, Irene - both inside & out. What I think is funny aboutRead More mammograms is that you're not allowed to wear deodorant (something about it messing up the results). If there's ever a time my pitties really drench, it's when I'm having the stage 4 cancer fantasy during the breast flattening. Clinics really should offer a sample of Sure or Secret on your way out of the appointment.
Irene Tassiopulos-Lyle May 15, 2011 at 10:25 pm
The technology is quite delicate if glitter and deodorant throw it into a frenzy ;-) I know whatRead More you mean about deodorant AND perfume. Ah well.... the joys of womanhood continue. Thanks, Cathy.
