Just arrived home from an extended business trip (New York City) and was so surprised to see in aRead Morefe w short months how my Ventura Boulevard has changed! First of all, Naked Baby Boutique….clearly one of the most attractive community, family-owned business between the Laurel Canyon to Whitsett stretch. Such a loss to our community. I've been shopping there for my family and friends for many years, always enjoying the friendly atmosphere and the fact that they were one of the few stores to maintain and care for the area outside of their store as well. We always looked forward to their beautiful window displays. I did not intend this to be so lengthy, but I digress, I feel the need to rant, for no one seems to be talking or blogging about what is becoming of our beautiful shopping community. Mattress store after mattress store continue to blight our walkable street. My feet will not walk that block anymore. It's not about losing one great store….take a look folks... you'll notice more small family businesses disappearing only to be replaced by mattress stores, chain stores and others of that ilk. Not only does this kill small local businesses on the stretch, but frankly my family did not move to our Studio City neighborhood to have a whole bevy of mattress stores around the corner. Greed, Greed, Greed is the latest Studio City spin…only business as usual for local commercial leasing agents, whom most likely represent unwitting landlords…. or not. We need to take back our beloved boulevard!!! Rant over. Someone else take it from here….

FYI -- Universal City Nissan is NOT collecting donations for the San Fernando Valley RescueRead MoreMission. I went in today and spoke to the receptionist and a manager. Neither one of them knew anything about accepting donations for SFV Rescue Mission. Maybe the reporter made a mistake or Mr Sage did not share this with his employees?

I am a long time Studio City resident and Business owner. We make very high end Handloomed Knitwear Read Morethat is made all right here in downtown Los Angeles. My partner and I would LOVE to find a vacant shop along Ventura Blvd. in Studio City for just a weekend to hold a trunk show for family and friends (and anyone else that wants to stop by). If you have a location that you think might work, please email me at sharib@dunadesigns. com. Thank you!
