Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – Day 1 – Saving the Best for Last

The biggest annual event in Valley Village takes place Saturday, May 18th.

The Colfax World Fair is tomorrow! Yesterday dozens of volunteers worked from sun up to past sundown, and double that number will be working all day today to put up tents, build the game booths, set up tables and chairs, the stage, beautify the campus, and make sure that the biggest annual event in Valley Village is ready to open at noon on Saturday.

It’s an impossible task to narrow down the best attraction, game or booth, food, silent auction item, and entertainment act you will find at the Colfax World Fair. Let’s just say that these are all things that will make you say, “Wow! I gotta go to this fair!”

Countdown to the Colfax World Fair – Day 1 – Saving the Best for Last

Attraction: Toddler Town

Big kids not allowed! This is an entire area completely devoted to babies and toddlers. My Gym coaches will be hosting games, songs and activities all day. The Toddler Town area will also feature the inflatable obstacle course Animal Kingdom, Mini Roller Coasters, and the games Go Fish and Water Play. The only ones taking a nap in Toddler Town will the exhausted parents.

Game or Booth: Raffle

Thinking of buying a Powerball ticket? The chances of winning the jackpot are 1 in 175 million! Why not play some better odds and buy a few Colfax World Fair raffle tickets? Unless we have 175 millions guests on Saturday, you have a better chance of winning an iPad, a Kindle, 4 tickets to Disneyland or a Dodgers game, or $500 or $750 cash awards!

Food Vendor: Hayat’s Kitchen

Last year guests were in awe over the heaping portions of food from this NoHo Lebanese restaurant. Choose chicken or beef kabob with rice, hummus, salad and baklava. Have the chicken for lunch. Then come back and have the beef for dinner.

Silent Auction Item: Getaways

It’s starting to feel a lot like summer and the perfect time to get away. Can’t afford the airfare? Why not stay in town and live it up in one of these fabulous hotels? Enjoy 2 luxurious nights at downtown’s Omni Hotel, a 2-night weekend stay at the newly remodeled Hilton Garden Inn in Marina del Rey, a 2-night stay plus breakfast at the boutique hotel Farmer’s Daughter across from The Grove, or a 3-night stay in a beach house in Manhattan Beach.

Entertainment: Deana Carter & the Valley Village Idiots
Country singer Deana Carter has had 14 singles (3 that shot to number 1) and she’ll be crooning at the Colfax World Fair at 5:45pm. Later she’ll be joined by the talented group of Colfax parents and professional musicians who call themselves Valley Village Idiots. There’s no price of admission, so the concert is free! Deana’s awfully nice, so if you say “please” you might even get an autograph out of her.

The Colfax World Fair takes place Saturday, May 18th from noon until 7:00 pm at Colfax Charter Elementary School – 11724 Addison St. in Valley Village. Admission and parking are free. Silent Auction items may be viewed by clicking
