Blog: You Wanna Go Where?

We were going to West Africa to learn and observe voodoo culture. Our trip started in Lome, Togo and I decided to fly using frequent flyer miles.

Because we live in a big country with few bordering countries most of us do not know our geography very well.

A few years back I took a very unusual trip with some fellow members of the Los Angeles Adventurers Club.  We were going to West Africa to learn and observe voodoo culture.  Our trip started in Lome, Togo and I decided to fly using frequent flyer miles.  I called the Delta awards line and a very nice woman asked me where I wanted to go.  I told her Lome, Togo.  She said where?  Does such a place even exist?

When I convinced her it did she looked it up and was shocked to find it (and I laughed because it was so easy to use miles – how many people go to Lome?). After some jokes about strange places she said:  “OK what day do you want to return?”  I told her I needed to return from a different city.  When she asked where, I replied “Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso” she got the giggles and could not stop laughing.  Yes for all you doubters such a place does exist!  And to prove it – here are a few photos from that trip.
