Galloping With The Gauchos

Our first adventure In Patagonia Chile was a gorgeous 20-mile horseback ride through some beautiful landscape.

It was quite an adventure with many wonderful experiences but also with many challenges and perhaps even a Romance Novel Fantasy.

I had not been on a horse in over a year (the last time was when I was in Chile last year) and before that it had been decades. The adage about Patagonia is that you never know what kind of weather you are going to get and it can change within minutes.

We mounted our horses in a strong wind, rode in Sunshine and rain and brutal cold. But no one cared. The scenery was spectacular, we looked great in our leather chaps, we were lead with my ground partner Gonzalo of Chile Nativo and Carlos the Gaucho who inspired Romance Novel dreams from Eileen one of our intrepid travelers. Rumor has it she went back down and was last seen riding on the back of his horse up in the mountains.
