KATZ ENDORSES LITCHMAN FOR CONGRESS

Former State Assemblyman Richard Katz has endorsed Marc Litchman's campaign for Congress.

"Valley parents have serious questions about school safety, the quality of classroom instruction, and the waste, fraud and abuse at LAUSD that keeps hard earned tax dollars from reaching the classroom and helping our kids. A smaller local school district, one that reflects our values, will better serve students, teachers, parents and taxpayers," Katz said

"Size does matter"

Katz has been serving the San Fernando Valley since his election to the Legislature in 1980. He served as Democratic Leader of the State Assembly and has remained a powerful and influential force in local, state and national issues since his legislative retirement in 1996. His landmark legislation protects our drinking water, helped build the LA County transportation system, and put computers in our classrooms.

Katz was appointed to the Los Angeles City Planning Commission by Mayor Eric Garcetti. He's been a key adviser on energy, transportation and water issues to presidents, governors and mayors; and was Antonio Villaraigosa's appointment to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors Litchman, a longtime friend, was director of Katz' district office in the Assembly. But it is his plan to break the LAUSD into smaller more manageable districts that secured Katz' support.

Litchman, a Democrat, is running in the 30th Congressional District which is made up of the south and western San Fernando Valley and the adjoining hillside and canyon communities. The district is currently represented by eighteen year incumbent Brad Sherman.
