Rio Vista Elementary To Kick- Off Inaugural Walk-A-Thon

Rio Vista Elementary School will kick-off its first ever Walk-A-Thon by thanking and recognizing local businesses, organizations and LAUSD School Board member, Tamar Galatzan, on Wednesday, May 22. The Walk-A-Thon, designed to encourage physical activity among all students, will also help raise needed funds for the school, which serves families from Hollywood, North Hollywood, Studio City and Toluca Lake. Every student will walk for 30 minutes and are actively seeking pledges from sponsors for the number of laps they complete on the school mini-track. Students are encouraged to secure a minimum of $10 in pledges or donations. Funds raised through the Walk-A-Thon will fund Arts programs for next school year. To make a pledge or donation, please visit the Rio Vista Website at www.riovistapta.ourschoolpages.com. The day will begin with a recognition event thanking Tamar Galatzan and several area businesses and organizations for their support of Rio Vista Elementary over the past several years. Galatzan is being recognized for insuring Rio Vista benefitted from the technology Bond funds in which the school received 10 Promethean Whiteboards for its 2nd through 5th grade classrooms. The Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council, Rotary Club of Universal City, Studio City Beautification Association, Studio City Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Studio City Resident Association and Universal Studios are being recognized for their financial support and volunteer hours to develop the school’s Reading Garden, which has become a favorite place for students to enjoy a book. Century BMW has been an ardent supporter of Rio Vista for several years, sponsoring the PTA’s annual Golf Tournament and providing additional resources and support when needed. Rio Vista Elementary is a diverse neighborhood learning center which serves approximately 400 families in Hollywood, North Hollywood, Studio City and Toluca Lake with an API score of 905.
