The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter at the Walter Reed Middle School (WRMS) in North Hollywood, founded by Laurent Chang, a Sixth Grade student at WRMS, recently developed a series of career development panels that focus on empowering middle school and high school students from diverse backgrounds in developing their interest and knowledge about a wide range of careers so they can make informed decisions about their own career path.
At the Van Nuys Courthouse, FBLA WRMS presented its inaugural professional mentoring event with "Spend the Morning with a Superior Court Judge." Judge Maria Stratton was the Federal Public Defender in Los Angeles for many years, and has been a judge for a while, too. She handles a civil calendar in Van Nuys, and conducted the opening arguments in a trial where the attendees participated as audience. The attendees had a unique opportunity to learn about the judicial process and speak to a judge first-hand about what it’s like on and off the bench! Thank you Judge Stratton!
FBLA WRMS is the WRMS chapter
of the largest and oldest business student organization in the world, comprised
of quarter of a million high school and middle school students, college and
university students, faculty, educators, administrators, and business
professionals. FBLA WRMS strives to empower middle school and high school
students through career and leadership development and community service.
