A Studio City Subway, a Building and the Brady Bunch House

Questions from you are answered here, if you have more questions, please leave them below.

Do you have a question about Studio City? How do you get that tree stump removed? When's that bridge opening? What's the history of that house? Community activist Lisa Sarkin is answering questions about the history, government and problems in our area in this You Ask..Studio City Patch Answers column. She often knows who to call, and where to go to get things done. Send your questions to editor  or leave it in the Comments section below. Thanks!

Why doesn't the Brady Bunch house look like the one on TV anymore?—J.D. Stellar

The Brady Bunch house is a privately owned home. The fence and rock garden was added after the TV show went off the air.

When the movies were made, the fence and rock garden were removed by movie maker magic.

(Editor's Note: Out of respect of the homeowner, Patch will not publish the address of the famous TV house, but unfortunately  it's not hard to find on the Internet.)

The STUDIO CITY Building not in Studio City

There's a three or four-story building on Laurel Canyon near Riverside Drive that has STUDIO CITY on the side of it, what is that, and is it actually IN Studio City or not?—Karen F.

This building is in Valley Village, because it is on the north side of the 101 Freeway.  The name of the building is Studio City because of the business conducted within it.

A Subway along Ventura Boulevard?

Was there ever a plan to have any more of the metro rail come up and down Ventura Blvd? That would make sense, but I wonder if people got all NIMBY (not in my back yard) about it when decisions were made? —Carl Richardson

During the early years of Mayor Tom Bradley's administration, many more freeways were planned to move vehicle volume around the City of Los Angeles.

Those freeways were scrapped over the mayoral administrations since Bradley retired. The Red line subway took more than 20 years to construct and when the station opened in NoHo, no more subways were approved.

The location of the Orange line was original proposed as a rail line, but that was scrapped for the Orange busway.  The Orange busway and Rapid bus lines were the quickest way to have more transit in the Valley.  Other parts of the city have several rail lines, but at the present time only the extension of the Orange line is approved.

Ventura Boulevard is protected from additional traffic by the Ventura/Cahuenga Boulevard Corridor Specific Plan.

Your reference to NIMBY is curious, as I wonder if you would want transit close to your house? Ventura Boulevard in Studio City is barely two lanes on each side. It is wedged between the hillside and the river channel.

Where would you like to put a rail line?  The 17 1/2 miles are considered the premier commercial corridor of the San Fernando Valley and adding a rail line would not be prudent.
