Cupcakes for a Cause at Moorpark Park

About 30 locals help the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome.

Heather and Morgan Simpson of Sherman Oaks rallied about 30 parents and families to help out with a charity Friday afternoon at Moorpark Park in Studio City.

It involves cupcakes, lots of cupcakes!

"We are joining with Sprinkles and all the proceeds are going to help Angelman Syndrome," said Heather, who is also putting their 3-and 7-year-old sons to work too at the Milk and Lemonade stand.

Morgan has a friend whose daughter has the neuro-genetic disorder that occurs in one in 15,000 births. It causes developmental delay, lack of speech, seizures and walking and balance disorders. Most people have heard about it since actor Colin Farrell's son was diagnosed with it.

"We are hoping this will help raise awareness and money for a cure," said Heather.

The Simpsons have held charitable fundraisers over the years at the park, and last year, they collected for Breast Cancer.

This year, there will be an arts and crafts area for children, a blow-up slide and lots and lot and lots of tasty cupcakes, with flavors from strawberry to fudge.

The event will stay opened until 4 p.m.
