54 Dachshunds Invade the Sepulveda Basin

The L.A. Doxies Meet-up plan a President's Day Hike in Studio City on Monday, too.

A total of 54 Dachshunds invaded the small dog park at the Sepulveda Basin in Van Nuys Sunday afternoon as part of the monthly L.A. Doxies Meet-up—which gathers Dachshund owners from Long Beach to Ventura every month.

It was one of the largest gatherings that the meet-up had, according to the group's organizer, North Hollywood resident Johnny Ortez-Tibbel, a Dachshund photographer who just published a book of Dacshshunds.

See the photos and the video above, and join the group on Facebook. The group includes people who love Dachshunds and has Dacshshund-friendly bigger dogs.

She said, “It is 3.5 miles, there are no stairs or super steep inclines, mostly trails with switchbacks, but it is a hike. Personally, I find it just right, not too challenging that I can't enjoy the views and keep a careful eye on my pup(s), but some beginners have said it gives them a run for their money.”
