54 Dachshunds Invade the Sepulveda Basin

The L.A. Doxies Meet-up plan a President's Day Hike in Studio City on Monday, too.

A total of 54 Dachshunds invaded the small dog park at the Sepulveda Basin in Van Nuys Sunday afternoon as part of the monthly L.A. Doxies Meet-up—which gathers Dachshund owners from Long Beach to Ventura every month.

It was one of the largest gatherings that the meet-up had, according to the group's organizer, North Hollywood resident Johnny Ortez-Tibbel, a Dachshund photographer who just published a book of Dacshshunds.

See the photos and the video above, and join the group on Facebook. The group includes people who love Dachshunds and has Dacshshund-friendly bigger dogs.

The Leaner Wiener group is going for a more ambitious Dachshund President’s Day Hike on Monday morning at the Fryman Canyon Park in Studio City. Meet at the beginning of the park, in the parking lot, and it is free (although parking Is not free).

Look for Jennifer Hales Yandoli at 8:30 a.m.

She said, “It is 3.5 miles, there are no stairs or super steep inclines, mostly trails with switchbacks, but it is a hike. Personally, I find it just right, not too challenging that I can't enjoy the views and keep a careful eye on my pup(s), but some beginners have said it gives them a run for their money.”

If you have photos of the event and want to post them, please just click on the button and add them, too!

Dear tbs, Deon Coles black box is the worst tv show ever. Though it is hosted by a black man, it'sRead More a show based on pointing fun and rude Racist jokes directed toward black people. If there was a white host it would be considered racist but because a black man was appointed to be host , you might have figured we wouldn't be offended but we are and I can't speak for all but I feel like resist jokes aren't ok regardless of who is telling them and I would like tbs to take down this show or atleast change the points in the show ! -signed, Kalil Stimpson
