MARATHON TRAINING CONTINUES FOR STUDENTS RUN LA AT SAY NO TO DRUGS 10K

Nearly 3000 Students from 165 schools to run 10K at Universal Studios on Saturday morning
WHAT: Close to 3000 students and Leaders will continue their marathon training by running a 10K at Universal Studios in preparation for the Honda LA Marathon in March.  Students and Leaders will also be collecting cans of tuna to donate to the Fred Jordan Mission, as part of SRLA Cares, the component of SRLA through which participating runners take part in various projects designed to increase social and environmental awareness.
WHO:
Lee Lacy – Former Los Angeles Dodgers Outfielder will start the race
Nearly 3000 middle and high school students from LAUSD, representing 165 schools
WHERE: Universal Studios. Event staging area is at Lake Falls inside Universal Studios Back Lot.
WHEN:  Saturday, November 5, 2011. Festivities begin at 7:00 am. Run begins at 7:30 am.
About Students Run LA:
The mission of Students Run LA is to challenge at-risk secondary students to experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved health by providing them with a truly life-changing experience:  The training for and completion of the Honda LA Marathon. Every year, on average, more than 95% of the SRLA students who start the Marathon complete it, and 95% of the seniors who complete the Marathon with SRLA graduate from high school.
