L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti Signs Nelson Mandela Condolence Book

Beverly Hills and Los Angeles residents all over mourn the loss of the South African leader.

As the world gathers and mourns the loss of South African leader Nelson Mandela, Los Angeles church leaders and government officials have provided their thoughts and condolences.

L.A. Mayor Garcetti signed a letter of condolence for Mandela Sunday at the First A.M.E. Church and on Monday, went the to the private home of the South African consulate general in Beverly Hills to sign a condolence book.

"Our hearts are heavy with the news of Nelson Mandela's passing. A warrior for equality and a stalwart of global peace, Mr. Mandela's legacy lives on, and he will be ever present as an example of the power of perseverance," Garcetti said in a released statement.
