L.A. River Gets a Ribbon-Cutting
The Riverwalk project spans a half-mile length of the LA River with native, drought-tolerant landscaping, interpretive displays and open space for recreation.
Local officials will join The Village Gardeners of the Los Angeles River and Studio City residents Saturday to celebrate completion of the $3.9 million Los Angeles River North Valleyheart Riverwalk.
The project spans a half-mile length of the LA River with native, drought-tolerant landscaping, interpretive displays and open space for recreation. The site also uses vegetation to capture and filter storm water and urban runoff, improving downstream water quality, naturally.
We're also told there's a steelhead trout mural composed of about 40,000 stones.
The ribbon cutting is at 11 a.m. at 13099 Valleyheart Drive, Studio City with L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Massood Eftekhari, deputy director or L.A. County Public Works and Rick Rabins, president of the Village Gardeners of the Los Angeles River.
