Legal Battle over Mickey Rooney's Final Resting Place Soon to Be Resolved

A battle over burial plans for actor Mickey Rooney will likely come to an end tomorrow, with warring factions of the legendary actor's family apparently reaching an accord that will result in actor being laid to rest at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Rooney died Sunday at the age of 93 in Studio City, where he was living with his stepson, Mark Rooney, and his wife, Charlene.

His death, however, highlighted the tumultuous nature of his family life, with members of his family immediately bickering over burial plans. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge issued an injunction Tuesday preventing anyone from claiming the actor's body from Forest Lawn cemetery until an agreement was reached over his burial.

Mike Augustine, an attorney who has been Rooney's conservator since 2011, told the Los Angeles Times late today that the family had reached an accord, agreeing that the actor will be buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

"Mickey had enough lawsuits in life for 10 people; the last thing he needs is for one over where he'll be buried," Augustine told The Times.

But Augustine, who has Mark and Charlene's support, said Rooney had told him he wanted to be buried at a veterans cemetery or alongside other film stars at a Hollywood one.

Chamberlin's attorney, Yevgeny Belous, told The Times that Chamberlin had relented and agreed that Hollywood Forever was a suitable resting place for Rooney.

The agreement is expected to be finalized during a hearing Friday morning in Los Angeles Superior Court.
