Looking Back to the 60s-Those Great TV Slogans

Remember some of these great ad campaigns?

One of my favorite shows these days is Mad Men. Although I’m not wild about the sexism on the show, I’m still frothing waiting for the next season to arrive from Netflix.

Why do I love this show? Is it the big boobs, wide skirts and stiff martinis? Maybe…

Or the tight suits and long draws of the cigarettes that nostalgically remind me of my mother? Could be.

Or perhaps it’s because I was in the advertising field for close to 20 years, and I thrive on this psychological stuff. But the bigger reason is that this time period evokes a plethora of pleasant memories. I wasn’t scrapping for a job. I didn’t have bills to pay. My cats weren’t barfing on the carpet. Life was easier.

I remember all eight of us crammed around our TV in Studio City watching Walter Cronkite, or popular shows like My Three Sons and Lassie. Sometimes we’d squint, watching those black and white commercials through the windows of a store on Ventura Blvd. chewing our Bazooka bubble gum.

To this day, those jingles are as clear as the Beatles song I used to memorize.

For those of you who grew up during the 50’s and 60’s, perhaps you’ll recall a few of these slogans…Can you fill in the blanks? Feel free to post your answers here on the Patch, and if you have some others to add, include those as well!
