Several Studio City and Sherman Oaks officials and organizations are gearing up for "Car Free Sunday" on Sept. 22.
Coinciding with International Car Free Day in the effort to raise awareness to reduce traffic congestion and live in a healthier environment, residents are encouraged to walk and bike to shop and enjoy their Sunday in the area.
Various Studio City and Sherman Oaks businesses encourage participants to wear blue and mention "car free Sunday" to receive special discounts.
The events lasts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a community picnic next to the L.A. River on Valleyheart between Laurel Canyon and Radford.
