The single biggest story this year was the battle over Marijuana dispensaries in Studio City. It's been an passion-filled debate which is probably no closer to a solution than when the year started. The tragic car accident which took the life of three at Reno's restaurant shocked our community. But not enough was reported about the most innocent victim in all of this-- Nick, the owner of Reno's. He did nothing more than close up his restaurant the night of the accident, and his life has been turned upside down. We also lost Rusty. The loss of Henry's Tacos and the City Council which couldn't. After a year of spending money which they didn't have, the Council didn't feel up to passing a simple bill protecting a Studio City institution. But don't worry, I'm certain the strip mall, gas station, or (if we're really lucky) the 20th area Rite Aid/Walgreens which replaces it will have just as much charm. Perhaps the least reported story was the slipping away of the massive SB-1818 project at the corner of Colfax and Ventura. This is a project no one wanted or needed-- yet someone was still trying to jam it into our community, in another effort to make a buck at someone else's expense.

I think that Bridge over the Lankershim Blvd. near the Campo is the biggest possible eyesore that can happen here, and Universal Evoilution!

The tragic death of 3 people at the corner of Ventura and Tujunga. The real concern of how a Bridge can be erected, on Lankershim Blvd., near Universal without any public input, and what an eyesore it is going to be. The passing of a beautiful dog, Rusty who I saw both at the store and running through the neighborhoods. The many wonderful volunteers who help make our community stronger. Who came to City Council, and wrote their representatives and put Studio City back into one Council district, giving us a stronger voice at City Hall. And finally, Los Angeles will elect Wendy Greuel, not only the first woman Mayor, but also, someone from the Valley, Studio City, who understands and will represent us so that we are no longer just that large portion of Los Angeles, who pay the bills and receive an unequal amount of the services.
