Valentine's Day Without a Valentine?

For a lot of singles, this is the worst holiday of the year, especially in Studio City, but it doesn't have to be.

Welcome to the premiere issue of , auspiciously debuting on the day before Valentine’s Day.  Every Sunday, we’ll ponder and answer questions ranging from dating etiquette, to how to strike up conversations with eligible singles, to how to know when he’s/she’s just not that into you, to single parenting/co-parenting/visitation issues, to singles oriented spots in our precious Studio City (hereinafter ‘SC’).

Are you frustrated because you once again find yourself without a date on V-Day?

Well, don’t fret because things are about to turn around for you just by the mere fact that you’re reading this column. And you don’t have to look farther than your own front door. It’s not that love will come knocking, it’s that there’s a whole world overflowing with available singles right in your SC backyard.

All you have to do is consider these illuminating ideas.

Love is more than a feeling, it’s an action. You can’t think yourself into finding the "one," you have to act yourself into it. Searching for that connection is hard work, a full time job. And yet, it’s something you can do on a daily basis, even when you’re out running tedious tasks and errands.

The first step is to be aware and alert. Consciously focus on your goal of becoming a magnet for your soul mate.  Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to begin. Take yourself on a “ME” date, starting with an invigorating walk through to get those energizing endorphins pumping.  While you’re walking, jogging, or biking, repeat these positive affirmations or devise a variation:

“I’m a valuable, loveable, capable, beautiful/handsome woman/man inside and out and I’m deserving of and open to finding a passionate, generous, kind, caring partner, who will treat me with respect and honor. I now allow the universe to bring that special person into my life, so that I can give and receive the love I desire.”

Afterwards, stop by the fabulous , Tujunga Village, where eligible singles abound.

In the evening, treat yourself to an awesome night of jazz standards, sung by long time SC resident, Laura Pursell, accompanied by legendary guitarist Ron Anthony, at , Moorpark at Whitsett.

The Oyster House, “where everyone knows your name,” is SC’s best kept secret, presenting live jazz featuring world renowned artists, Mondays from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m., no cover charge!

SC’s most quaint, charming establishment offers fantastic food and drinks, friendly folks and staff, top notch entertainment, and plenty of singles to mingle with.

Motto for Today:  Seeing yourself and SC in a brand new light is the first phase in developing a new mind-set for attracting the attention of suitable singles.
