Workers Dig and Drill Along Future Valleyheart Riverwalk Greenway

Studio City beautification project at the L.A. River aims for a Dec. 14 completion.

Studio City's Valleyheart Riverwalk Greenway project has about 50 days left to completion, and workers were out along the Los Angeles River Monday drilling caissons into the dirt.

County Inspector James Pagani tells Patch to expect a Dec. 14 completion.

Volunteers came up with the plan five years ago and the project was adopted by the county. Funding came through the California River Parkways, Prop 84 Grant program, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky was instrumental in helping the plan move forward.

The walking and biking path is planned for the north side of the river between Coldwater Canyon and Fulton running behind Ventura Boulevard.

The long-planned bike trail is supposed to be along the south side of the river, but bicycles will also be allowed to go on the new access way, too.
