'2 Guns' Gives 'Smurfs 2' the Blues at the Box Office

"2 Guns," an action thriller starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, debuted atop the North American box office, outpacing the latest installment of the "X-Men" franchise, according to final figures released today.

"2 Guns" earned $27.1 million in its opening weekend, compared to $21.3 million for "The Wolverine," according to Hollywood.com Box Office.

"2 Guns" stars Denzel Washington (who sends his children to Studio City for school) and Mark Wahlberg (who takes martial arts classes in Studio City with his son).

The family friendly "Smurfs 2" debuted in third place, earning $17.5 million between Friday and Sunday, followed by the not-so-family-friendly horror film "The Conjuring," which collected $13 million to push its three- week total to $107.9 million.

"Despicable Me 2" placed fifth with $10.1 million, giving it a five- week domestic total of $326.4 million.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were "Grown Ups 2" ($7.9 million); "Turbo" ($6.2 million); "Red 2" ($5.6 million); "The Heat" ($4.6 million); and "Pacific Rim" ($4.5 million).
