"Argo" won Best Picture of the year at the Academy Awards, even though the director, Ben Affleck wasn't nominated as best director. The movie picked up three Oscars, including for Film Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Studio City resident George Clooney as producer shared the award with Affleck, who now lives in Pacific Palisades.
"Life of Pi" won the most Oscars of the night, winning in four categories, including Best Director for Ang Lee.
Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for "Lincoln" and Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress for "Silver Linings Playbook."

Studio City resident William Shatner beamed in to help his fellow Studio City resident Seth MacFarlane as host of the Academy Awards. Shatner came in on the Starship Enterprise from the future to help keep MacFarlane from making a fool him himself. It seemed to help and was one of the funniest bits of the night.
There was a lot of home familiarity. Quentin Tarantino, who lives in the hills above Studio City, pointed out that his neighbor, Charlize Theron, who lives a little further up Mulholland Drive, was presenting him his second Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Christopher Waltz for "Django Unchained" winning the first award of the night for Best Supporting Actor (which he won before in a Quentin Tarantino film), said on stage, "We participated in a hero’s journey – the hero here being Quentin. And you scale the mountain because you’re not afraid of it. You slay the dragon because you’re not afraid of it and you cross through fire because it’s worth it. I borrowed my character’s words so sorry… couldn’t resist."
