Despite earlier reports today that the paternity suit was dropped against Studio City resident Justin Bieber, it seems the suit could still happen, as attorneys on both sides are in talks.
Just after noon Wednesday, TMZ clarified reports that the suit was dismissed by the 20-year-old Mariah Yeater who supposedly gave birth to the 17-year-old pop star's child on July 6.
According to TMZ's latest report:
TMZ broke the story, Yeater dismissed the suit last Thursday, after Justin and his team made it clear ... they were going to sue Yeater and her lawyers for filing a malicious claim.
Despite the fact that Yeater's claim has now been dismissed and the 2 lawyers who filed it have quit, Justin is not backing down from his threat.
The singer's publicist, Matthew Hiltzik, tells TMZ, "We intend to still hold them accountable."
The accusation against Bieber has been denied by the pop star, who said the baby is not his child and the alleged incident backstage at the Staples Center last year never happened.
"I'd just like to say basically that none of those allegations are true. I know that I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim," Bieber said on NBC's 'Today' show on Nov. 4. "Never met the woman."
According to a San Diego County birth certificate obtained by, Tristyn Anthony Markhouse Yeater was born at a La Mesa hospital to Mariah Laci Yeater.
Bieber agreed to submit to a DNA test, while his lawyers threatened to take legal action against Yeater. He said he wants to prove that he is not involved in any way.
