The smash was predicted to deal another $33.5 million in sales this weekend by its studio, Lionsgate.
Another sequel from the "American Pie" franchise factory opened in second place, as "American Reunion" registered a $21.5 million debut weekend.
And "Titanic 3-D," which opened Wednesday, was in third place this weekend with a $17.4 million take.
Making up the remaining 10 most-popular movies in the United States and Canada, as estimated by the studios and collated by Hollywood.com, were "Wrath Of The Titans," ($15 million), "Mirror Mirror" ($11 million), 21 Jump Street" $10.2 million), "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax ($5 million), "Salmon Fishing In The Yemen" ($975,000), "John Carter" ($820,000) and "Safe House" ($580,810).
