CBS Previews 'We Are Men' and 'The Millers' for Studio City Community

It was truly an inside joke.

"I just want to say to the people of Studio City that I always take a left out of the CBS Radford Studios parking lot and make a four-mile detour every day, thank you," said Jerry O'Connell. The local audience laughed.

The neighborhood fought for a long time to make the exit from the large parking structure a left-turn-only, and a sign orders the drivers to do so in order to prevent traffic from going through the residential neighborhood along the Los Angeles River. The reality is that many scofflaws ignore that request because it pours traffic onto Ventura Boulevard and into one of the worst intersections in the whole Valley—at Radford and Ventura.

And so, the audience laughed. Activists such as Lisa Cahan Davis and Richard Niederberg were in the audience, as well as Studio City Chamber of Commerce Director Esther Walker and many others mixing with the stars of the TV shows "We are Men" and "The Millers."

Many of the scenes in the TV shows were shot in recognizable Studio City locations, such as Ventura Boulevard, Beeman Park and the First Christian Church of North Hollywood (where two wedding scenes were shot in the pilot episodes).

O'Connell shot "The Defenders" (set in Las Vegas) on the CBS Radford lot most recently. His dry cleaners is around the corner and his favorite sushi places are on Ventura Boulevard (see past interview: http://studiocity.patch.com/groups/business-news/p/the-defenders-brings-vegas-to-studio-city)

Beau Bridges of "The Millers" welcomed everyone to the outdoor screening on the studio backlot and the free TV dinners provided by Joan's on Third which is revamping a new location on Ventura Boulevard.

"It's great to see the local community come out and get a chance to see our show," Bridges said.

The free event was a special sneak peek preview opportunity for the community.

"We wanted to give this special fun night to Studio City where the stars can mingle with the residents," said CBS studio publicist Kyle Pleva.

"We are Men" debuts Monday, Sept. 30 at 8:30 p.m. and "The Millers" premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8:30 p.m.
