Community to Celebrate 50 Years of Television at CBS Radford Studios

Public invited to see great old shows filmed locally in Studio City back in the CBS Studio Center lot's heyday.

The Studio City Branch Library and Neighborhood Council host the 50th anniversary of television production at CBS Studio Center on Saturday, Oct. 19, which will examine the history of television production at the lot. It was formerly called the Mack Sennett and then Republic Pictures' lot.

The event is from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Studio City Library at 12511 Moorpark St.

"It's great to see those '60s shows with 'Studio City' in the final slate," said Barry Johnson, neighborhood council stakeholder, Thursday night when the council approved to co-sponsor the event.

The public is invited to see some of the great old shows produced locally and hear from two films historians, and other surprise guests talk about the some wonderful stories and enjoy a fun and engaging afternoon in Studio City.

Los Angeles historians Marc Wanamaker and Mary Mallory will give a PowerPoint presentation discussing the history of television production on the lot, focusing on many of the famous stars and popular television shows that filmed in Studio City. A reception will follow the screening.
