"The Avengers" is turning in the best second weekend in Hollywood history, according to estimates the Walt Disney Co. released today.
The mammoth blockbuster is on track to sell $103.2 million this weekend, according to figures disclosed to Hollywood.com. That would put its performance in the U.S. and Canada over the past 10 days at a record-shattering $373.2 million.
No other movie in Hollywood history has crossed the $300 million threshold in nine days, movie analyst Paul Dergerabedian said.
"Dark Shadows" opened in a distant second place, with a still- respectable $28.8 million sales estimate.
