Ed Begley Jr. Has a Star on the Medical Walk of Fame

No, he doesn't have one in Hollywood—yet.

You’ve heard of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, maybe even the Cowboy Walk of Fame or the porn star Walk of Fame in West Hollywood.

There’s the Rock Walk (hand prints), as well as Hermosa Beach’s Surfer Walk of Fame, Manhattan Beach’s Volleyball Walk of Fame, Echo Park’s Avenue of the Athletes and San Pedro’s Sportswalk to the Waterfront.

Ed Begley Jr. does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (yet) but he is an unlikely recipient of a star on the Medical Walk of Fame in Exposition Park.

The walk was created on July 19, 1984 and it is there specifically for actors who have portrayed doctors.

The walk says it is: “dedicated to the hundreds of actors and actresses who have portrayed medical professionals on popular television shows and in motion pictures. Through their roles, these individuals have created a lasting imprint on the awareness of the health care industry.”

And, of course, Begley’s still noted for his role as Dr. Victor Ehrlich on St. Elsewhere. His fellow colleague Cynthia Sikes from the show is also in the Walk.

Others in the Medical Walk of Fame are Vince Edwards and Bettye Ackerman from the 1960s drama Ben Casey, and John Beradino who played General Hospital’s Dr. Steve Hardy, from the time the soap opera began in 1963 until his death in 1996.
