Katie McGhie was born and raised in Los Angeles where she was surrounded by the arts from a young age. Her parents introduced her to a wide variety of artists from the time she was just a baby, which fueled her passion for music. “In our house, there wasn’t anything we didn’t listen to. One minute we’d have classical music playing in the background, the next The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band would be blasting in the living room,” Katie says. She began doing musical theatre by the age of eight. By fourteen, she was touring throughout Southern California with a local children's theatre company and continued to work with them for several years. Her debut role was Leisl Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. “After I tasted the spotlight, I never looked back. I knew it was where I belonged,” Katie says.
In 2009, Katie met and began collaborating with producer, Mark Vogel. Within a week of meeting, Mark brought Katie into the studio to record an original track for the CW. “I immediately fell in love with the music world,” Katie says. “It’s a platform that allows me to tell my story, to show the world who I am, in my way.” That same year, she began working on her self-titled debut EP (released November 11, 2011) with Mark Vogel and Grammy-nominated engineer, Luke Tozour, who has worked with Katy Perry, Pink, Selena Gomez, and Adam Lambert. A raw mix of classic rock and modern pop, Katie’s music bridges the gap between the great Rock ‘n Roll artists of the past and the contemporary Pop artists of today. “My hope is that anyone can listen to my music and have a great time, no matter who they are,” Katie says.
Katie is now performing around the Los Angeles area, promoting her EP. With her commanding stage presence and powerful vocal abilities, Katie is a performer that will be hard to miss.
