Help 'Josie Robin: Science Fiend' May Her Goal for 'A Fungus Among Us'

Studio City writer needs your help with a funny educational project.

Drew Filus is a Studio City resident and big fan of Patch, and he's got a delightful educational and entertaining project on Kickstarter that can use a boost.

Here are the details and check out the video:

In most ways, Josie Robin is just like other kids. But what sets Josie apart is that she is obsessed with science and uses science to fix her problems in fun, extraordinary ways.

Josie’s stories bring her on incredible adventures that are thoroughly entertaining (and inconspicuously educational, too). “Josie Robin, Science Fiend” is a new series that, by way of the power of storytelling, aims to bring Josie’s love of science to kids the world over -- particularly girls -– and address the trends and biases that keep a good portion of our population from appreciating the wonders of science.

With the e-book, we aim to introduce Josie Robin to the world and create the momentum and support necessary to realize our larger vision for Josie.

The vision is to release additional Josie stories as a series of full-featured apps and e-books. Apps and e-books offer the perfect interactive platforms with which to engage (and educate) our audience in ways we never could before. The way we see it: the digital medium is hands-on, and so is science. It’s a perfect fit.

So right now we’re taking the first step with this e-book. Drew Filus has written an engaging story. LA-based illustrator Megan Hutchison has created some beautiful artwork. And a brilliant NY developer is working out some groundbreaking e-book features. So please, if you can, help us start inspiring kids to aspire...one Josie adventure at a time.
