Jeff Berman Picks Up Things Along the L.A. River and Creates Art

The Studio City artist uses what he finds along the L.A. River and other places around town and creates whole new works.

It's a new form of art—recycled art.

Studio City resident Jeff Berman of Lost In Art has lived in the area since 1991. Along the way he has picked up branches, bark and all sorts of things along the Los Angeles River.

He has been re-using scraps from other projects, too.

"I am a self-taught artist that uses recycled materials to create art. Book pages, cardboard, metal, wood, tree branches and bark  are some of the materials that are used.

At times, items you do not always expect to be used as art can be the biggest challenage with the most satisfaction when completed. Color, texture and form help decide what I will end up creating.

Almost everything can be recycled for a new life and people are able to recognize these items, opening art to individual interpretation."
