‘Stand By Me’ Cast Behaves, Larry Birkhead Buys Candy; Rob Schneider Parks & Waves, Jack Black Drives Dandy

Also some dish on Britney Spears, Emma Roberts, Annette Bening, Robert Downey Jr., Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus and more.

They were all a bunch of bad boys in their day—and in the movie—but they were perfect gentlemen when the cast of the sleeper hit Stand By Me got together again at the in Toluca Lake last week. The cast got together to answer questions for fans and reunite with Rob Reiner for the release of the 25th anniversary edition of the Blu-ray DVD.

It was kind of a sad reunion, actually. Richard Dreyfuss was there, but his career never blossomed after his Oscar win for The Goodbye Girl in 1977. Wil Wheaton was there, and he had a great run as young Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: Next Generation, but never made it into the big screen movies like he wanted. Corey Feldman was there, but he was sad because it was almost exactly a year since his best bud Lost Boy co-star Corey Haim was found dead nearby at his Oakwoods apartment in the Cahuenga Pass.

And, local boy landed ( sees them all the time together in the late afternoon at and spotted them a lot before they even announced their marriage), and they live now in the hills above the restaurant. Jerry was sad because he missed his friend River Phoenix who was in Stand By Me, and died of a drug overdose in front of the Viper Room in West Hollywood. ( had dinner with River a month before he died at the Toronto International Film Festival in 1993 with Studio City director .) . . .

’s ex, , is still living in Studio City, but he’s not the photographer he used to be when knew him. Now, he’s playing fulltime daddy to their daughter Dannielynn who will turn five this September. Larry was caught by his former colleagues in the paparazzi squad at the this past Tuesday while out running errands. Dannielynn was carrying a tube of M&M's as she and her dad exitted the store and walked back to the car. . . .

QUICK STOP SPOTS . . .

was strolling down Riverside Drive with her family stopping in at some shops (see photo). . . .

Also shown in the photo gallery, stopped in at for some office supplies on Saturday and shutterbugs followed them into the store until they were kicked out . . .

was spotted driving up Laurel Canyon Boulevard last Sunday driving very carefully. (I’ll bet he had one of little Jacklings strapped in the back seat.) . . .

n and her mom were out in Studio City getting stylish haircuts together. They were out shopping on Tuesday along Ventura Boulevard . . .

Robert Downey Jr. popped in to a fundraiser for the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts music program and greeted students and parents, saying he was well aware of the horrible cuts planned in school programs. He knew that many of those there were trained at and from the that is now being cut . . .

Britney Spears, boyfriend, and young son all ventured out to the field last weekend to watch Britney’s oldest, , play baseball at a local park. The closest photographers could get was behind the diamond across the field. . . .

A Twitter sighting by at least four people followed window browsing along Ventura Boulevard after ducking out of on Tuesday, and then, before the rains began, she was walking her dogs on a trail in on Thursday . . .

took her family to for a nice lunch Monday  (see her photos and video in the photo gallery to the right). . .

Kevin Nealon, the comedian, sold his condo in Studio City, ands house with the great view of the Valley, is going for $1.59 million (he and his partner have a house nearby that’s bigger that they’re slowly moving into). . . .

Rob Schneider may have moved to Studio City! A Tweeter was pulling into his parking garage the other day and saw the comedian there looking like he was bringing in boxes. “He was very nice” according to reports.

Coolest Thing to Do this Weekend:

If it’s Friday, you have to see , the jazz percussionist, playing with the Michael Wolff Quartet at Vitello's.

And if it’s Saturday, go to the hysterical as she brings

Also Friday night is a porn star party with the theme "Winning!" for  It's happening after 10 p.m.at.

I attended N.H.H.S. in the mid-seventies. Mr. Reeves and Mr. Moelter were two of my favorites.Read More Loved Mr. McLeroy for Sociology.

great article Mary! Ms. Korney, she sometimes scared me to death! But always around christmas IRead More think of her and pronounce my letters clearly at the end of a word when I sing. I can still remember the song I had to sing for my final, "If ever I would leave you..." She taught me a lot. I agree with everything you said about Mr. Reeves. I had Mr. Pesin for Algebra, he did nothing to help further my math skills. The biggest flirt around, ick. We had a girl in school at the time that flirted her way to an A and hardly ever went to class. Go figure!! I also thought quite highly of Ms. Requiam. Glad she's still around.

The signs are everywhere! Please vote for Wendy, Nora. He is also running ads about Wendy GreuelRead More that he knows are outright lies.
Nora Doyle May 20, 2013 at 06:31 pm
It really ticked me off to see those signs cluttering up our public spaces. I'm still undecided whoRead More to vote for, and I emailed his campaign to tell them that is is just the kind of thing that would prevent me from voting for him unless the signs disappeared by election day. I'm glad I'm not the only one to email them about it.

Wendy Greuel was incredibly efficient and responsive when she represented our district. I'm sorry,Read More Leah, that your concerns were not answered. I know she worked closely with the SCRA to improve Studio City. She will will be the same way as Mayor! Vote Wendy Greuel.

She has received a lot of flak about making a premature decision...I hope someone from OvarianRead More Cancer or the community weighs in on this and gives their thoughts in a blog! Thanks...just click the START BLOGGING button below! THANKS!

ok. have now spent some time navigating the new patch. i hope everyone will give it a chance. it'sRead More growing on me. i think once everyone is more familiar with the new version they'll like it too.
Irene DeBlasio May 17, 2013 at 04:09 pm
@MikeSzymanski I must admit that I haven't been able to detect a new format. Where is the format?Read More Who designed this? All I can tell is that there is a beautiful shot of trees -- perfect! Under that banner all hell breaks lose and you can't tell what you're looking it. There might be a huge blowup of Mr. Walker or a too big notice of something official-looking -- possibly an agenda. I have not been able to navigate through all the stuff. Lots of white space on either side which gives me impression that we're tailoring a community paper more toward an iphone or smart phone (or a tablet). Maybe I need a GPS to find a good list of contents here. In the meantime, it's not very attractive (exception for the banner trees photo) nor entertaining and not very informative. Scotty Reston, where are you now that we need you?

the picture selected is nice and it well suits the page. it would be nice to see the full pic. tooRead More bad so much of it is blocked from the top portion of the content....any chance of seeing the full picture and starting the content beneath it?

I find this very disconcerting. Mel Randall who is on the Land Use Committee was asked to submit hisRead More name. We assumed qualifications would be checked and then those best suited would be chosen. Two entries of the same name is in itself so bad makes me feel that all of this should be redone.

I was at the meeting last night and saw all I need to see on how our neighborhood council work. TheyRead More had a drawing for the grievance panel. WHAT A SHAM!! They drew 1 guys name twice and rather than stop the proceedings and make sure that the names in the hat were legitimate and no other duplicates exist and redo the drawing, they just drew another name. Now it probably was just a fluke but the appearance of a rigged drawing is there and it taints the whole council and it proceedings. It is very apparent why we need a grievance panel in the first place. When the appearance of corruption exists at the lowest levels of our democratic process it is no wonder that the whole system is collapsing before our eyes. Our neighborhood council should hang their heads in shame!
