Schools

Only 3 Days of School This Week

All of the Los Angeles Unified School District public schools and many of the local private schools have a four-day weekend including Friday. For many schools, next Thursday is a day off as well as Monday.

Many of the schools had a short day on Aug. 29 and had a Back-to-School Night on Thursday night before the long weekend, such as Walter Reed Middle School, which has its activities beginning at 6 p.m.

Many other schools have had Back-to-School or orientation nights earlier this week, or are planning them after Tuesday next week after Labor Day.

According to the LAUSD website, Friday, Aug. 30 is considered Admissions Day and is off, then Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 2 is off and the next Thursday on Sept. 5 is considered an "Unassigned Day" and is off (it is also Rosh Hashanah). But Friday, Sept. 6, students are back in school.

Many of the local private schools follow a similar schedule. Check school websites for details.

Campbell Hall in Studio City does not have Friday off, but does have next Monday and Thursday off. See: http://calendar.campbellhall.org/MasterCalendar/MasterCalendar.aspx?data=Ai6R2a1%2f4RXDtUCv0R2tMo86j...#
