Blog: 'How to Succeed' by Keeping Musical Theatre Alive in Our Youth

Can we continue to keep musical theatre alive in our youth? Rising Star is doing this right here in Studio City by offering programs and performances with kids ages 5 - 7 and 8 - 16.

Rising Star Children's Musical Theatre Troupe is an adventurous group.  We are not afraid of taking on the musicals that most groups would shy away from.  So, here we are presenting HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING.

Earlier this year there was a highly successful remake of this show on Broadway and the 3 gentlemen they chose to feature in the lead were Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Nick Jonas, and Darren Criss from the hit TV show GLEE.  I am sure their intention was to draw a younger crowd to those seats that are usually filled with much older patrons.  It was a huge success and I am thrilled.

Musical theatre is for everyone!  We need to be reaching out to the youth with these classic shows so they have the chance to experience the likes of the great writers like Frank Loesser.  There never was and never will be another Frank Loesser and his best known shows, GUYS AND DOLLS and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, are perfect examples of what a musical should be.
