Reading in Modern Times

Buying a book isn't like it used to be.

Are you looking for some good reading material to put on those new Kindles, Nooks, and iPads you either already have, or are hoping to get over the holidays? For a writer such as myself, the publishing world is circling and wobbling like a spinning top, as the battle of traditional publishing does battle with the ability to self-publish. But for a reader, you are in luck. With the creation of Amazon, B&N and iTunes, just to name the most prominent online sources, you have access to literally millions of books, and many of them are dirt cheap. Not only that, but you can order them from the comfort of your own home!

Yesterday my 1st novel, “Searching for My Wand," was released. You can check out the trailer here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMi8eiatB8s&feature=share . Now obviously that’s the first book you should buy, (lol), but there are so many great books out there and they are more accessible than ever. I’ll be the first to admit that reading a book on an electronic device is not the same as holding a book in your hand. That will always be my personal preference. However, you have to admit that it’s both more economical in the long run, as well as greener, to go the electronic route.

As a writer, I want nothing more than to see my book in print, featured prominently on a bookstore display. As a reader, though, I have to admit that what matters most is the story, and a beautiful display does not make the content inside the book any better. So fill up those Kindles, Nooks and iPads. For less than ten dollars you could buy several great stories, and let’s face it, once the holidays are over you are going to want to take some time to relax into another world.
