Welcome Home

After living in LA for many years, this writer and mom finaly feels at home.

As I set out to write this blog, I asked my family what I should write about, this being my first post for the Patch. Each of my girls, fourteen and almost twelve, said I should write about them. Uh, no. Don’t get me wrong, I love them dearly and they are, in fact, sometimes the inspiration for posts on my other blog, bridgetstraub.com. But I want this to be in addition to my original blog, not just the same posts repeated. So then I thought, well, this is the Studio City Patch, so I should write about Studio City. Duh!

Can I just say I love Studio City? I have wanted to live here ever since I first moved to LA a very long time ago, and it has taken me until just recently to do so. I started out in the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks area, then Burbank, and most recently, Valley Village. All of these places have had their good points but I always secretly wanted to be here.

Now, just walking to the Farmers Market on Sunday mornings, or taking a stroll around the neighborhood after dinner is heaven. In fact, the greatest thing about Studio City, at least for me, is the walking. I enjoy looking at all of the houses with their beautiful gardens, or ducking into the shops on the boulevard. I look forward to finding lots of new haunts and hang outs. I also love that if I run out of something, rather than having to get in the car, I can walk to Vons or Ralphs.

When we moved here, I hoped Studio City would live up to my expectations. I am happy to report, it has exceeded them.
