9 Studio City Businesses Make the Ecovian List

Eco-friendly businesses win green ribbons.

Earth Day is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the earth's natural environment.

One way of demonstrating that appreciation and respect is choosing eco-friendly cleaning products and services.

In Studio City, one of those is on Laurel Canyon Boulevard. It is one of many local businesses listed at Ecovian.com, an online green city guide “created by a community of passionate members dedicated to living a sustainable lifestyle” according to a statement on its website.

In determining which cleaning business gets listed there, Ecovian explains: “Dry cleaner and wet cleaner greenness is based primarily on whether the cleaner uses an environmentally-friendly cleaning process, as well as certifications encompassing a wide range of environmental practices where applicable."

Each business is rated on a scale of “greenness.”

The local shops are:

Trader Joe's has most of their products packaged in styrofoam and plastic, even some of the veggies, so they're not exactly 'green," just because they provide reusable shopping bags and paper bags, they are way behind when it coems to product packaging. I'll bet the eco friendly dry cleaners use good products but still deliver clean clothes with plastic covers. It always amazes me how so called organic and green businesses appear to be so clueless about their packaging practices.
