Former 'American Idol' Judge Kara DioGuardi Sells Studio City French Chateau

Her house is in an area with many celebrities, and she's moving just before her surrogate baby arrives.

A beautiful 1923 French chateau in Studio City refurbished by architect Mike McCuddy is being sold. McCuddy is married to former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. The house was put on the market a few years ago, then rented out for a while, but now with their new news of an expanding family, the couple decided to let it go finally.

They are expecting a child via a surrogate soon, according to media reports.

“We are eagerly awaiting the healthy and happy birth of our son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy,” the 42-year-old singer/songwriter told People.

After a few years of trying for their own child, the couple decided to work with a surrogate.

McCuddy is a house builder and put together the five-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home sits on three acres of land that also has an infinity pool, a hot tub, a 23-foot-tall stone fireplace, herringbone walnut floors and a sauna.

The house is a 4,100 square foot structure that was extensively reworked and expanded, and they lived there for at least four years and it was mentioned in a profile in The Daily Beast.

She was a judge on the reality show from 2009 to 2011 and she wrote songs for other Studio City residents such as Britney Spears (Ooh Ooh Baby), Ashlee Simpson (Pieces of Me) and the Jonas Brothers (Play My Music).

She also wrote for Christina Aguilera (Ain't No Other Man), Celine Dion (Taking Chances), Faith Hill (Lost), Pink (Sober), Carrie Underwood (Mama's Song) and Meat Loaf (If I Can't Have You).

She also just wrote a book: A Helluva High Note

She was renting the house for $45,000 and also living on the East Coast. There's enough room to park at least a dozen cars on a long driveway past an electric security gate. The entrance of the house has a double-height foyer with lustrous black and white marble floor, elegantly curving staircase and decadently drippy crystal chandelier. There are stunning views over the San Fernando Valley and it's within walking distance of Fryman Canyon and George Clooney's house.

It's not clear yet who bought the massive estate.

I wish the media had countered Garcetti's claims with an examination of the facts and had exposedRead More his relationship with BIG development. Only the LA Weekly covered these stories--keep reading it and keep posting.

Oh, it was under announcements and not opinion so that is why I did not understand the post whichRead More appeared as facts.

Presumptuous? What about my "endorsement" is presumptuous. You don't really need toRead More respond😃, I just didn't understand the comment.

great article Mary! Ms. Korney, she sometimes scared me to death! But always around christmas IRead More think of her and pronounce my letters clearly at the end of a word when I sing. I can still remember the song I had to sing for my final, "If ever I would leave you..." She taught me a lot. I agree with everything you said about Mr. Reeves. I had Mr. Pesin for Algebra, he did nothing to help further my math skills. The biggest flirt around, ick. We had a girl in school at the time that flirted her way to an A and hardly ever went to class. Go figure!! I also thought quite highly of Ms. Requiam. Glad she's still around.
